How to make the best orange cake with the easiest chocolate ganache.
Ingredients
Chocolate Ganache
200gsemi-sweet chocolate(chopped)
3/4cup35% cream
4tbspmaple syrup
2tbspunsalted butter(softened)
Orange Cake
2cupsunbleached flour
2tspbaking powder
1/2cupunsalted butter(softened)
1cupsugar
3orange zest
3eggs
1/2cuporange juice
1/4cupmilk
Instructions
Chocolate Ganache
In a bowl, place the chocolate. Set aside.
In a saucepan, bring the cream and the maple syrup to a boil. Pour the cream mixture over the chocolate and let it melt for 2 minutes without stirring.
With a spatula, mix the ganache until the texture is homogeneous. Add butter and stir until melted. Allow to cool for 2 hours at room temperature or until ganache is spreadable.
Orange Cake
Place the rack in the center of the oven. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
Butter and line a 10 x 4-inch bread pan with a strip of parchment paper, leaving it hanging over both sides.
In a bowl, combine the flour and baking powder. Set aside.
In another bowl, cream the butter with the sugar and zest with an electric mixer. Add the eggs, one at a time, until the mixture is smooth.
In a small bowl, combine the orange juice and milk. At low speed, add the dry ingredients alternating with the milk mixture.
Pour the dough into the pan. Bake for 1 hour or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean.
